The trip in a nutshell
Two sides of Catalonia, joined by a thirty-minute train. We open in Barcelona — Gaudí, the Gothic Quarter, late dinners, and one of Europe’s easiest cities for two men traveling together — with a day out to the medieval north and the fishing-village coast. Then we slow right down in Sitges, the seaside town that’s been the gay capital of the Spanish coast for decades: golden beaches, a whitewashed old town, and bars that take up the heart of it rather than hiding in a corner. City energy, then sea. Designed, start to finish, around the two of you.
Why Sitges?
Because it’s the rare place where the gay scene is the town, not a district of it. Sitges has long been called the gay capital of the coast — a small, beautiful seaside town half an hour from Barcelona, with some of the best beaches in Spain and a center where the bars and terraces spill into the open. What I love about it for my clients is the ease: it’s relaxed rather than frantic, as welcoming to a couple in their sixties as to anyone, and it works just as well for a quiet week by the sea as for a livelier one. Pair it with Barcelona and you get the whole range of gay Spain on the Mediterranean — the great city, and the town that wears its welcome on its sleeve.

A sample itinerary

Day 1 · Arrive in Barcelona
Fly into Barcelona and settle into a design-led hotel in the Eixample, walkable to the best of the city. An easy first evening: a stroll, a glass of cava, a relaxed dinner nearby.
Day 2 · Barcelona — Gaudí & the Gothic Quarter
A private guide for the morning — the Sagrada Família and Gaudí’s Barcelona, then the medieval lanes of the Gothic Quarter — with skip-the-line arranged so you’re never standing in it. The afternoon is yours.
Day 3 · Barcelona, at your own pace
A free day in the city: the boutiques and bars of El Born, a market lunch, a rooftop in the late afternoon, and as much or as little of the Eixample’s gay nightlife as you’re in the mood for.
Day 4 · Girona & the Costa Brava
A private day north: the honey-colored medieval streets of Girona, then down to the Costa Brava — fishing villages, coves, and a long lunch by the water. (Prefer wine to coast? We swap in a day in the Priorat instead.)
Day 5 · Barcelona → Sitges
A short coastal train south to Sitges and into a seafront hotel. The afternoon to find your footing — the whitewashed old town, the church above the sea, a first evening on the beach as the light goes soft.
Day 6 · Sitges, at your own pace
A full day on Sitges time: the beaches, the seafront promenade, and a town center where the gay bars and terraces are right out in the open. A seafood dinner by the water to close it.
Day 7 · Sitges & the Penedès
A half-day inland to the Penedès, Catalonia’s cava country, for a tasting at a family winery among the vines. Back to Sitges for a slow afternoon and a final dinner — your last Mediterranean sunset of the trip.
Day 8 · Sitges → home
A relaxed morning by the sea, then a private transfer to Barcelona airport for your onward flight — already wondering when you can come back.
Where you stay
A handful of stays, chosen for character, location and quiet — never a chain, never a compromise. These are the kind of places we book; the exact properties flex with your dates and taste.

Barcelona — a design-led hotel in the Eixample
A contemporary boutique hotel in the heart of Barcelona — walkable to Gaudí, the old city, and the Eixample’s bars and tables.

Sitges — a seafront hotel
A relaxed hotel on or steps from the seafront — old town one way, beach the other, the whole gay heart of Sitges on your doorstep.

The Catalan coast & wine country
Want to slow down further? We can add a night on the Costa Brava or among the vines of the Penedès or Priorat — fishing-village quiet, or a room looking over the rows.
Make this itinerary yours
This is a starting point, not a fixed package. Tell me your dates and how you like to travel, and I’ll come back with a Catalonia itinerary shaped around the two of you — more city or more sea, Costa Brava or Priorat, Sitges quiet or Sitges lively, until it’s unmistakably yours.
