The trip in a nutshell
Two islands, seven unhurried nights, and the Cyclades most travelers never see. We open in Athens, then slip out to sea: Folegandros, a cliffside village with no crowds and no rush, and Milos, a fishing-port island of volcanic coves and impossible light. The days are paced around swimming, slow dinners, and the kind of beauty that doesn’t need a viewpoint queue to earn it. Designed, start to finish, around the two of you.
Greece beyond Santorini
Everyone pictures the same two islands. Santorini’s caldera and Mykonos’s nights earned their fame — and they’re glorious — but they’re also where everyone goes. The Cyclades are scattered with quieter alternatives that offer the same Aegean light, the same whitewashed villages and warm water, with a fraction of the crowds. Folegandros and Milos are two of the best: just as beautiful, far more relaxed, and every bit as easy and welcoming for two men traveling together. If you’ve seen the postcards and want the Greece behind them, this is the route.

Who this is for
This route is for the traveler who wants romance without a resort — couples and honeymooners especially. For anyone who’d rather swim off a boat than queue for a viewpoint, and for the two men who’ve already “done” Santorini and want the quieter Cyclades instead. If your idea of a perfect day is a slow morning, an empty cove, and a long dinner with the light going gold, this is your Greece.
A sample itinerary

Day 1 · Arrive in Athens
Fly into Athens and settle into a small boutique hotel in the center — the right soft landing before the islands. An easy evening: a walk, a first Greek dinner, an early night.
Day 2 · Athens → Folegandros
A morning ferry south into the Cyclades, arriving in Folegandros by early afternoon. Check into a cliffside suite above the Aegean, then pick up a rented scooter so the island is yours at your own pace.
Day 3 · Folegandros, at your own pace
A free day. Folegandros is small, car-light and gloriously undeveloped: the car-free Chora for a slow lunch, hidden beaches reached on two wheels, a sundowner looking out to sea.
Day 4 · Folegandros by sea
A small-group boat tour aboard a restored traditional caïque with a local captain — quiet coves, swim stops, and stretches of coastline you can only reach from the water.
Day 5 · Folegandros → Milos
A short ferry hop to Milos and a sea-view suite in a relaxed fishing village on the quiet side of the island. In the evening, a romantic seaside dinner timed to the sunset.
Day 6 · Milos — wine & sunset
A semi-private winery visit and tasting at midday, then an e-bike sunset tour: the lunar-white rock of Sarakiniko, an ancient theater, the village of Plaka, ending with mezes as the light fades.
Day 7 · Milos by catamaran
A full day at sea by shared catamaran around Milos and the uninhabited islet of Polyegos — volcanic cliffs, turquoise water, and long swim stops far from any crowd.
Day 8 · Milos → home
A relaxed morning, then island flights back via Athens for your onward connection — already planning the next two islands.
Where you stay
Three boutique stays, chosen island by island for character, location and quiet — never a chain, never a compromise. These are the kind of places we book; the exact properties flex with your dates and taste.

The Athenaeum Luxury Hotel — Athens
For your first night in Greece, I wanted somewhere that feels like the city, not a layover near it. The Athenaeum is a five-star boutique hotel set right beside the Temple of Olympian Zeus, with the Acropolis and the historic center a short walk away. It’s an intimate, individually designed property where the luxury is in the detail rather than the noise — and its roof-garden restaurant frames panoramic views of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill, the kind of first evening in Athens you remember. It’s the right way to arrive: somewhere that lets you drop your bags, step out, and feel the city immediately — before the islands begin.

Provalma — Folegandros
Folegandros is the Cyclades before the crowds found them, and Provalma is how I’d want you to experience it. A family-run hideaway of just five studio-suites set in a garden of native herbs in Ano Meria, each with a private terrace and an uninterrupted view of the Aegean. There’s a small pool above the sea, an outdoor lounge for the long evenings — and a breakfast of homemade local specialties brought to your terrace each morning. This is the slow heart of your honeymoon: three nights where the day’s only obligation is the view, the sea below, and each other.

Vilos Suites — Milos
For Milos I chose Vilos Suites, on the Pelekouda peninsula at the edge of Pollonia, the island’s most charming fishing village. It’s an intimate, all-suites property of just six rooms in classic Aegean architecture — whitewashed lines, sea-blue accents — sitting steps from a quiet rocky cove that recalls Milos’s famous Sarakiniko. Your Master Suite opens to a private sea-view terrace, and the village’s tavernas and beaches are a short walk away. It’s the perfect base for everything Milos has waiting: the catamaran, the wine country, the sunset rides — and the calm to come home to after.
Make this itinerary yours
This is a starting point, not a fixed package. Tell me your dates and how you like to travel, and I’ll come back with a Cyclades itinerary shaped around the two of you — swap an island, add days at sea, lean into food and wine until it’s unmistakably yours.
